How to solve the temperature problem during the composting process of organic fertilizer?

During the composting process of organic fertilizer, the temperature problem is a common and key problem that needs to be properly solved. Generally speaking, during the fermentation of organic fertilizer compost, the temperature will rise to 50°-65° within 24-48 hours.

If the temperature does not rise during the composting process of organic fertilizer, there are mainly the following reasons.

1. The size of the pile is not suitable

When the pile is too high or too wide, heat is easy to accumulate inside, resulting in excessive temperature. When the pile is too low or too narrow, heat is easy to dissipate, and the temperature cannot reach the target requirements. Therefore, during the composting process of organic fertilizer, the height or width of the pile should be properly controlled to increase the air permeability of the pile, which is conducive to the dissipation of heat.

2. Moisture adjustment problem

First, check whether the moisture content exceeds 60%. If it exceeds, add the corresponding auxiliary materials to adjust it to about 60%, and then stir it evenly; if it is less than 60%, add water or fresh manure to adjust it to about 60% and stir it evenly.

3. Poor air permeability

Turn the pile regularly and increase the frequency of turning the pile. By turning the pile regularly, the flow of oxygen can be promoted, heat can be dissipated, and microorganisms can be evenly distributed to avoid local overheating. Straw powder can also be added.

LANE’s turning machine can solve this problem well and help promote the composting process of organic fertilizer.

4. C/N ratio imbalance

It is necessary to adjust the ratio of raw materials and increase easily degradable substances. For example, adding easily degradable substances such as corn stalks can improve the air permeability and microbial activity of the pile, which helps to control the temperature. Maintaining an appropriate carbon-nitrogen ratio (such as 20:1) helps the growth and reproduction of microorganisms, thereby increasing the temperature of the pile.
